Having problems finding storage solutions? Clear out clutter in your home by making the most out of the natural storage spaces. Sounds too easy? Actually all you need to do is look around and see what still needs a place. At the end of the day your home is full of hidden storage possibilities, you just need to look around. For starters consider some of our great ideas for storage solutions.

  1. Clear Out—Move your everyday flatware into boxes in order to free up space in your kitchen drawers. Relocate larger utensils into wall-mounted baskets or bins.
  2. Climb the Walls—Create shelves that reach from floor-to-ceiling for books and collectibles to make the most space of your hallway.
  3. Check your Coat—Mount pegs on your wall, creating hooks for your everyday jackets. By doing this you will free up space in your closet for the seasonal gear.
  4. Role Play—Create an organizer from an old bureau. Create space for your mittens, hats and running shoes by dividing your drawers. Use smaller top drawers for on-the-go essentials.

Solutions for Your Kitchen

March 26th, 2010

Do you ask yourself, “How did the kitchen get so out of control?” Then you may need kitchen storage tips from President of Restoring Order, Vicki Norris. She says, “Organize based on the way you live.” Here’s how.

First Reassign large or rarely used appliances (turkey roasters, bread makers) to the garage or basement.

Second Pull out all kitchen items and group them (dishes, silverware, pans, cookbooks). Toss damaged items; set aside extras to donate. Once storage areas are empty, measure them and make a list of containers to buy.

Third Shop for storage. But before you do, “break away from what you think a kitchen should look like,” says Joe Provey, author of 1,001 Ideas for Kitchen Organization. “It will enable you to do more with the space.”
